Kosovo PM candidate Bedri Hamza promises a 50% increase in salaries and pensions
Bedri Hamza, the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) candidate for prime minister, has promised a 50% salary increase if he comes to lead the government.
Hamza said this increase would be permanent and not just an election-time measure, but one that would allow citizens to plan and have predictability.
“There will be a 50% increase in salaries. This will be permanent, not just support during election campaigns, but something lasting so that the citizens of Kosovo can plan and have predictability. This does not mean that public sector workers will receive one extra salary per year, but that they will receive the equivalent of six additional salaries. Someone who currently earns 900 euros would receive around 1,350 euros with the increase. Someone who earns 800 euros would receive around 1,200 euros after the increase,” Hamza said, according to KosovaPress.
He also promised that there would be increases in pensions for all categories, including contributory pensioners, old-age pensioners, families of martyrs, war invalids, veterans, victims of sexual violence, and all categories benefiting from the Kosovo budget, stating that all would receive a 50% increase in benefits.
