In Prizren, the statue of national hero and former commander of the UÇK’s Pashtrik Operational Zone, Tahir Sinani, has been unveiled. His figure was highly praised by local government institutions and wartime generals.
The unveiling of the bronze statue took place today, on the Albanian Flag Day of November 28, near the “City Park” in Prizren.
“Standing here today, I am not simply unveiling an artistic work; I am standing before a living memory—a legacy that speaks to us all about preserving his figure, the truth, dignity, and our national history. I don’t want to speak about dates and facts today, but about principles. Tahir Sinani’s figure is far more than a wartime biography. He is a moral guide for the entire nation—the embodiment of courage, honor, responsibility toward the country. He showed that when someone loves freedom, they don’t seek it as a privilege but defend it as a duty. He was a man of justice, humility, and sacrifice; a man who never sought a place in history, but to whom history gave a place because he lived for others,” Totaj said.
General Kudusi Lama stated that the unveiling of this statue is an act of gratitude to Tahir Sinani and all the martyrs who fell in the Pashtrik Operational Zone.General Selim Krasniqi of the Initiating Council expressed his joy, saying Sinani returns to Prizren immortalized in bronze as a great patriot and hero. He called for deeper reflection on national dignity.
“He never stopped for a moment in organizing and fighting for freedom until victory. After the war, he contributed significantly to Kosovo’s defense forces as commander of the Second Defense Zone. Having pledged to fight until death for the liberation of Albanian lands, he also took part in the liberation efforts in Presheva, Medvegja, and Bujanoc, as well as in Macedonia. He was beloved among fighters and always stood by them until he fell in battle, joining the ranks of heroes who shed their blood for freedom… We must think more about the blood shed for freedom, the sacrifices made across generations, and about our national interests and dignity,” he said.
Tahir Sinani’s son, Rrezart Sinani, told attendees that “the blood of the martyrs is the foundation stone of our future.”
November 28 marks the public emergence of the Kosovo Liberation Army, Albania’s Independence Day, and the birthday of the legendary commander Adem Jashari.
