Over 7,000 interviews on the ground, ASK announces the progress and challenges related to the population census

Acting chief executive of the Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS), Avni Kastrati has stated that 7,643 interviews have been completed so far regarding the population census process. According to him, everything is going according to plans, but the Serbian community in some parts of the country remains a challenge, as he said, they have not yet started in that part.

Kastrati, in a press conference on Monday, while announcing the progress of the work in the field for the census of the population, Family Economies, and Housing in Kosovo, emphasized that in the north, due to some training, this process has not yet started in that part of Kosovo.

He added that from now on the enumerators will work at full capacity.

While he announced that he was visiting the northern part of the country, he said that the representatives from the Serbian communities expressed the willingness of the population to register.

Asked about the call for a boycott by the Serbian List, he said that apart from KAS, all institutions are involved, especially the security and judiciary. It has also been said that the lawyer Mazllum Baraliu has also been engaged.

Meanwhile, for this, professor Mazllum Baraliu has said that it is a matter for the CEC to evaluate and take the appropriate steps.

Meanwhile, Burim Limolli, head of IT at KAS, while showing the data, announced that all ethnicities are participating in this process and according to him everything is under control by the IT system. The same has added that they have requested that two interviews be done per day. Moreover, Kastrati said that the application is in four languages, Albanian, English, Turkish and Serbian.
