The Central Election Commission announced the final results of the first round of Local Elections for Mayors of 37 Municipalities, which were held on October 17, 2021. In Gjilan, the candidate of the Vetëvendosje Movement, Alban Hyseni will be in the runoff with the current mayor and candidate of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Lutfi Haziri. Hyseni came out first with 19,057 votes or 44.71%, while Haziri is second with 18,546 votes or 43.51%. The difference between the candidates is 511 votes. PDK candidate Leonora Morina Bunjaku came in third, while AAK candidate Nazim Gagica is fourth, followed by independent candidates Gani Neziri and Lulzim Bexheti.
