The Central Election Commission has received 142,803 applications from the diaspora to vote in Kosovo’s early parliamentary elections, which will be held on June 7.

The Central Election Commission has received 142,803 applications.

CEC spokesperson Valmir Elezi told KosovaPress that postal boxes for mail voting have been activated in 23 countries around the world, including Kosovo, while their addresses will be published during the week.

“According to preliminary data, from the beginning of this process on May 6 until its conclusion on May 17, 2026, a total of 142,803 registration requests were received through the electronic platform. Of these, 109,696 have so far been approved, 7,325 have been rejected, while 25,702 are pending review,” Elezi said.

As he noted, voting by mail remains the most preferred voting method.

“Out of the 109,696 approved applications, 81,901 citizens registered to send their ballot package to a postal box outside Kosovo, 2,855 registered to send their ballot package to the CEC postal box in Kosovo, while 24,940 registered to vote physically at one of the diplomatic missions,” he said.

According to the Law on General Elections, out-of-country voting takes place earlier. Voting by mail is scheduled to begin on May 25 and end on June 6, while voting at diplomatic missions will be organized on June 6.

Elezi also announced that the CEC will review the list of diplomatic missions where voting will be organized on June 6.

“According to the Electoral Regulation on Registration and Voting Outside Kosovo, if the number of voters registered to vote at a diplomatic mission is below 50, physical voting at that diplomatic mission will not be organized, and the registered voters will automatically be transferred to the status of postal voters, for which they will be notified by the CEC.”

Meanwhile, the registration period for voters outside Kosovo to participate in the early parliamentary elections of June 7 officially closed at midnight on Sunday.
