Vjosa Osmani is the most voted woman in the history of Kosovo.

In the 2021 elections, she received over 300,000 votes as part of and leader of the Vetëvendosje list, representing GUXO.

This came after Albin Kurti was not allowed to run due to legal issues.

The coalition with Vetëvendosje and the victory in these elections, with over 50 percent, also brought Osmani the position of state president in April of the same year.

Her political and professional relationship with the leader of Vetëvendosje had been close even before. In fact, since 2019, when LDK and VV reached a governance agreement following that year’s elections.

Osmani herself acknowledged this when she became Speaker of the Assembly of the Republic.

“...I have far fewer disagreements and many more shared positions with the current prime minister. I believe even the birds in the mountains know this, so…,” she said at a joint meeting with Kurti on May 18, 2020.

Knowing this relationship, Osmani became popular, favored, and largely positively discussed on social media, especially among those who supported Kurti and Vetëvendosje.

However, the situation has drastically changed in recent days, when Osmani issued a decree to dissolve the Assembly after it failed to elect a new president by March 5, the constitutional deadline.

Kurti’s supporters saw this action by the acting president as a betrayal. As a result, they responded with harsh comments on almost every post of hers. The same happened when Osmani posted a photo with Rifat Jashari on March 6, for the Kosovo Liberation Army Epopee.

“Traitors don’t deserve to go to that place,” commented Dini Kryeziu.

Bashkim Namani appeared even harsher:

“You bite off more than you chew… don’t go to the memorial at the legendary Adem Jashari family cemetery, because for a chair you sell the sovereignty of the republic and yourself, no votes for you,” he wrote.

Anuar Asllan Syla was critical and somewhat offensive:

“You should be ashamed, traitor, you got deceived by that house in Marigona, greedy and envious,” he said.

Osmani’s decree also angered and disappointed Adem Binaj:

“You were so shameless, like a Skopje Fox! I removed all the likes.”

Yetta Luka said she was disappointed with Osmani:

“From Hero to Zero, what a disappointment, poor you for yourself,” she wrote.

A profile named “Mitro Meriton” chose to copy a similar expression to that of former U.S. Ambassador to Kosovo, Tracey Jacobson:

“For God’s sake, you’ve screwed it up” he wrote, while Jacobson had told Kosovo politicians “don't screw up.”

Many commenters saw Osmani’s decree as part of a plan to overthrow Kurti, allegedly “orchestrated” by Richard Grenell from the U.S., Edi Rama from Albania, and Aleksandar Vucic from Serbia.

“The end of her political career through collaboration with Edi Ramoviq. Forbidden, may the votes go elsewhere,” wrote Artison Balaj.

“Anyone connected with Rama, friend of Vucic, will surely face a big fiasco, and you, Madam President, unfortunately joined Edi Rama’s dance and will face consequences,” commented Berat Opss.

Rauf Suma compared Osmani’s future to that of an opposition politician who resigned months ago:

“Finally you showed yourself weak, Vjosa Osmani. You approached EDI Rama and Grenelli, now Memli Krasniqi’s fate awaits you,” he wrote.

A commenter with a name very similar to former PDK chairman Meli Krasniqi Nako admitted he is no longer with Osmani but will always be with Kurti:

“Unfollowed you, Vjosa Osmani. You betrayed us too. Always with Albin Kurti,” he wrote.

Nehat Miftari gave Osmani a harsh label:

“Sold out of the year 2026,” he said.

Albulena Ibraj Krasniqi accused the president of thinking more about herself than the people when she issued the decree:

“You threw away the people’s vote into the trash, meaning you don’t care about the people at all, failure,” she commented.

Enver Rramanaj is convinced Osmani has nothing more to seek in politics:

“You are a corrupt pawn, your career is over,” he said.
