On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the death of Kosovo’s historic president, Ibrahim Rugova, President Vjosa Osmani praised his decisive role in building alliances with Euro-Atlantic partners, emphasizing that Rugova’s vision remains a guiding light for Kosovo today, reports KosovaPress.
During the commemorations with the Rugova family, Osmani stated that Rugova was the architect of Kosovo’s independence and the figure who united citizens around the cause of freedom, independence, and democracy.
She added that these alliances were built by President Rugova with an exceptional vision, which still serves as a guide for a stronger Kosovo integrated into Euro-Atlantic structures.“President Rugova united the entire people of Kosovo around the cause of freedom, independence, and democracy, a cause that is still alive and realized thanks to the great sacrifice of our people, our liberation struggle, and the building of alliances with our strategic allies within the Euro-Atlantic family. These alliances were built by President Rugova with an exceptional vision, a vision that remains today a guiding light for each of us who want a stronger Kosovo, integrated into Euro-Atlantic structures,” Osmani said.
Meanwhile, the former president’s wife, Fanë Rugova, expressed gratitude for today’s activities honoring the historic president, Ibrahim Rugova. “Many thanks to President Osmani for this ceremony organized in honor of Kosovo’s historic president Rugova, and for all the activities today,” Rugova said.Ambassadors of the QUINT countries in Kosovo were also present at the commemorations to honor President Ibrahim Rugova.
