From May 1, the new electricity tariffs are expected to enter into force, which were initially planned to take effect on April 1. This was confirmed to KosovaPress by the Chair of the Board of the Energy Regulatory Office (ERO), Ymer Fejzullahu.

“The tariffs are postponed to May 1,” he said briefly.

Energy operators in the country have requested an increase in electricity tariffs, with KESCO asking for a 21% rise.

Meanwhile, the Energy Regulatory Office conducts an annual review of electricity tariffs, which are announced on April 1 and are valid until March 31 of the following year.

Last year, ERO approved a tariff increase of 16.1% compared to the previous year.

Regarding concerns about electricity meters, the Chair of the ERO Board, Ymer Fejzullahu, told KosovaPress that this is the responsibility of the Institute of Metrology, which operates under the Ministry of Trade.

“The Institute of Metrology under the Ministry of Trade is responsible for this. Everything related to measurements is their legal obligation,” Fejzullahu stated.

Yesterday, LDK member Visar Azemi submitted hundreds of alleged pieces of evidence to the Energy Regulatory Office (ERO) regarding manipulation of electricity meters, which he claims is affecting citizens across the country, KosovaPress reports.

The Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) has also recently submitted evidence to KEDS, claiming that electricity meters are incorrectly measuring time, according to the party.
