Naim Murseli, accused of murdering his wife Liridona Ademaj, swore again during Friday’s session at the Basic Court in Pristina that he neither committed nor organized her killing.
“I, over these years since the incident, have been accused of a very serious crime which I did not commit. I have not organized any murder nor have I taken part in any murder, I did not even see the killing, neither I nor the child, because at the moment of the murder, the children and I were running away...”
“I swear to you that Naim Murseli was not in the car at the moment of the murder, I swear Naim Murseli did not pay for the murder, this is the truth. I have been unjustly accused, targeted by the media and from this courtroom, but the truth is completely different. You will decide my fate, the fate of my children, you assess the evidence, assess the factual and real situation, and from you I expect only a fair verdict. I expect that there will truly be justice for Liridona, because Liridona deserves full justice.”
Murseli also spoke about the earlier mention of politician and businessman Behgjet Pacolli in this court process, stating that he had no connection to the murder of Liridona Ademaj. The accused also spoke about communication with his children, stating that he submitted as evidence a CD showing his communication with them. Murseli said that he does not speak with them not because they do not want to, but because he is in detention.
A fair decision was also requested from the trial panel by Murseli’s lawyer, Shemsedin Piraj, who said that what is known as “direct intent” is missing in the indictment, as an essential element of guilt.
Liridona Ademaj was killed on November 29, 2023, in Pristina. The case was initially reported as a robbery.
