Nagavci questioned on “bargaining” over the presidency issue says they have been transparent in their offers
Head of the Vetëvendosje Movement (LVV) parliamentary group Arbërie Nagavci said that they have made proposals for a political agreement on the issue of the presidency, while denying that they have engaged in “deal-making” in their offers for the post, reports KosovaPress.
Ahead of the start of the plenary session, Nagavci said that Prime Minister Albin Kurti is continuously engaged in efforts to find a solution to the presidency issue.
“The Vetëvendosje Movement has always been serious and transparent in its proposals and offers. For me, ‘deal-making’ refers to practices we have seen in the past, which fortunately belong to history, when discussions were held about customs terminals, ambassadorial posts, individual favors, and narrow interest groups. Meanwhile, the Vetëvendosje Movement makes proposals for political agreements in proportion to the support we have received from citizens. Beyond that, in order to resolve this deadlock we have been in for more than a year of blockage due to the position of the Speaker of the Assembly, we have even been generous in the proposals we made to the LDK as the third party with a significantly smaller number of MPs than LVV, offering the second position in government and four ministries to lead, or one of the three most important state positions, the position of Speaker of the Assembly,” she said.
Furthermore, speaking to journalists, she said she expects political parties in the coming days to declare concrete names they would support for the presidency.
“In the coming days, I truly expect all MPs, and especially political party leaders who above all declare that they are in favor of avoiding new elections, to go beyond blocking the possibility of finding solutions and to specifically state what would be acceptable or appropriate for them. Even today, we do not know the concrete names that PDK or LDK would support, or what the specific agreement is, because as you know, we already have an offer for a political cooperation agreement. We are working intensively in the Assembly, voting on a large number of laws,” Nagavci added.
