LVV parliamentary group leader Arbërie Nagavci has called for cooperation and consensus on the election of the President.

In today’s parliamentary session, Nagavci said that at this stage there is a need for unity and cooperation to overcome the current political deadlock.

In remarks outside the agenda, she said that those working toward new elections should know that elections would not remove the responsibility to work together again to elect the President.

According to her, it is better to elect the President under the current conditions than to leave it for later.

“At this stage we need unity and cooperation. Ahead of us is an important constitutional process, the election of the President of the Republic, where political maturity is required from each of us. The President, as a figure of unity of the people, calls for a process that must be guided by a spirit of cooperation. The responsibility is ours, therefore citizens expect us to make decisions. Those who think and work for elections should know that elections do not remove our responsibility to work on the same issues sooner or later. In these conditions, better now than later,” she said.

Nagavci also spoke before MPs about inaccuracies in Shkëlzen Gashi’s recent exhibition on massacres in Kosovo during 1998–1999.

According to her, the government will not stop under any circumstances until the documentation of these massacres is completed and justice is achieved for every massacre, war crime, and the genocide committed by Serbia.

“This debate must be responsible, based on facts, and conducted with special respect for the truth. Based on scientific methods and above all with deep respect for the feelings and the immense suffering of our citizens... Our liberation war is a historical and moral fact that cannot be relativized. This does not exclude the need for reflection and discussion, but places it within a clear framework of history... We will not stop under any circumstances until the documentation of every painful event in our country is completed, including justice for every massacre, war crime and genocide committed by Serbia,” she said.
