Kosovo national team striker Vedat Muriqi has expressed great optimism ahead of the important match against Turkey, saying the game could be historic for the country.
At a press conference, Muriqi said that as captain he feels the atmosphere in the camp is very positive, with strong cooperation and high motivation from all players and staff, and he hopes this energy will be reflected on the pitch so they can achieve the desired result.
Meanwhile, the Prizren-born striker emphasized that the historic match between Kosovo and Turkey is a matter of national pride, while also praising the Turkish national team.
“I feel emotionally different because I spent eight years there, I was formed as a footballer there, I have a lot of respect for the Turkish state and for the players I have played with. We have been both teammates and opponents in many matches, but tomorrow is a different match, it is a national matter, a state matter,” Muriqi said.“Since independence, this could be the greatest happiness for our country. Our desire and strength are at maximum to achieve victory. I don’t want to put pressure on my teammates or myself, but I strongly believe in victory. Tomorrow we will meet our fans, and I hope we achieve success and then celebrate together in the square,” Muriqi added.
The match between Kosovo and Turkey will be played on Tuesday at the Fadil Vokrri Stadium, starting at 08:45 PM.
