The Mayor of Prishtina, Përparim Rama, has announced that families affected by flooding in the ‘Kodër e Trimave’ neighborhood have been temporarily accommodated in rented apartments until the issues in the affected areas are resolved, reports KosovaPress.

The Mayor of Prishtina stated that one family has already been relocated, while two others are in the process, adding that the flooding is also a consequence of illegal construction in high-risk areas.

“We are here in ‘Kodra e Trimave’, on ‘Aziz Zhilivoda’ Street, which has experienced flooding problems, and we came to visit the families… We have now found solutions with rented apartments until the problem here is resolved, in these areas that have been flooded. However, based on analyses, it is evident that there are problems caused by human activity as a result of illegal construction in an area that is usually very prone to flooding… One family has already moved into a rented apartment, and two other families are also being handled,” he said.

The municipality has engaged emergency teams to manage the situation and provide temporary shelter for the affected families.
