A candidate for MP from the Vetëvendosje Movement, Adelina Tërshani, has submitted a file to the Kosovo Police containing material that, according to her, includes insulting, defamatory, and threatening comments directed at her in the digital space.

She stated that she is handing over 650 pages of material to the Kosovo Police, emphasizing that her action is not related to political criticism, but to hate speech and threats that, according to her, aim to silence women in public and political life.

“Today I am submitting 650 pages of material to the Kosovo Police, not because I have been hurt by political criticism — in a democracy, criticism is essential — but because no one has the right to use threats, humiliation, and online violence as a weapon to silence, intimidate, or push women out of public and political life. We have long tolerated a culture where people hiding behind screens think they can defame, insult, and threaten without any consequences. This must end. The internet is not a lawless zone,” she said.

She also spoke about the challenges faced by women in politics, stating that their participation in public life should not be seen as an act of courage, but as an equal right.

“There are girls and women in 2026 who tell me: ‘Thank you for having the courage to represent us in politics.’ What kind of courage is needed to be a woman in politics? To run for office, to speak publicly? Enough with romanticizing the strong woman in politics. The goal is not to create women who endure everything; the goal is that anyone who takes the risk to insult, abuse, or threaten others — including online comments — should face justice and receive a fair punishment,” she concluded.

She said she has been the target of hundreds of insulting, defamatory, and threatening comments.
