Medical treatment abroad, 6 million euros are covering only 45 percent of the needs of citizens
The Public Finance Oversight Committee has reviewed the performance audit report for the administration of the medical treatment program outside the public health institutions. It was said that the amount of 6 million euros is covering only 45 percent of the needs of citizens for treatment outside Kosovo health institutions. Vetëvendosje Movement MP Eman Rrahmani, while reading the report, addressed criticism towards the management of the treatment program for patients abroad and said that the treatment of patients is not fair.
But these criticisms were denied by the director of the Health Insurance Fund, Fatmir Plakiqi, who said that the treatment is done in order, but urgent cases have the obligation to be sent abroad within 72 hours. The chairwoman of the commission, Hykmete Bajrami, criticized Plakiqi for the lack of a price list for services performed abroad. Whereas, the director of HUCSK, Valbon Krasniqi said that we plan to draft a three-year strategy to invest within health institutions so that most interventions are made in Kosovo. The Minister of Health, Arben Vitia, was also summoned to report to this committee, but he was absent, as it was said due to the busy agenda.
