The organization “Liria ka emër” considers the postponement of the verdict in the trial against former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army at the Specialist Chambers in The Hague as completely unacceptable.

In its reaction, the organization says that this ongoing practice of unjustified delays can no longer be seen as normal court procedure, but rather as a serious degradation of the fundamental principles of justice for a trial within a reasonable time frame.

“This process, which has been dragging on for years with repeated postponements, has completely lost credibility and has now turned into a mechanism that produces continuous injustice,” the statement says.

According to the organization, the detention of former KLA leaders for nearly six years is contrary to all standards of international justice and fundamental human rights.

“Liria ka emër” states that these developments are seriously damaging citizens’ trust in international justice institutions, creating the perception of a prolonged, unbalanced, and irresponsible process.

The organization warns that any further delays in this case at the Specialist Chambers would only move the institution further away from justice standards, turning it into a dangerous precedent for international justice.

The Specialist Chambers confirmed the extension of the deadline for the announcement of the verdict for the former KLA leaders.

The spokesperson of the Specialist Chambers in The Hague, Angela Griep, told KosovaPress that July 20 is not the date for the announcement of the verdict, but rather the date that sets the extended deadline.
