The Energy Regulatory Office (ERO) has announced that the licensing process for energy entities is based on clear legal and regulatory criteria and is not influenced by various actors operating outside the legal and institutional framework.

In a media statement, the ERO said it is facing continuous pressure and attacks from different actors, but despite this, it has consistently ensured regular and transparent communication with the media to inform the public and to fulfill its legal obligations for transparency and accountability.

Regarding recent statements about the licensing of the company EFT, the ERO informed the wider public that the company Energy Financing Team AG was licensed to carry out wholesale electricity supply (trading) activities from 2006 to 2012.

The ERO stated that Energy Financing Team LLC has been licensed by the ERO to carry out wholesale electricity supply (trading) activities from 2016 to 2021 and from 2021 to 2026, in accordance with the legal framework.

“Any attempt to portray this process differently risks creating confusion among the public and undermining trust in independent institutions and the stability of the electricity market. Such statements by various actors are irresponsible, harmful, and do not serve transparency or the public interest,” the statement said.

The ERO added that “any attempt by individuals or specific interest groups to influence regulatory matters constitutes a serious violation of the principle of regulatory independence, undermines the rule of law, damages the functioning of the energy market, and jeopardizes the fulfillment of Kosovo’s international obligations.”
