On the 26th anniversary of the liberation of Kosovo, citizens visited the “Adem Jashari” memorial complex in Prekaz. They say that only by remembering those who fell for freedom do we remember and carry forward the history of our people from generation to generation.

A citizen from Deçan, who lives abroad, Valdet Mustafa, said that even though he lives in exile, on important days for the country he always comes to visit Prekaz.

“It is a sacred day, the day of Kosovo’s liberation, even though we must keep in mind that on this day not all of Kosovo was liberated, but a part of Kosovo was freed, and it starts from this day. We always come to visit the Jashari family, Prekaz, Gllogjan, and many other places, even though we live abroad, but we always come on these sacred days to visit these honored families,” said Mustafa.

Florim Doroci from Mitrovica, who had brought his daughter to visit Prekaz for the first time, said that the legendary place of Adem Jashari is very important and that the history of our people must be passed down from generation to generation.

“It is very important because these are martyrs, they fell for Kosovo. I wanted to bring my daughter too; it is her first time here... We must pass the history down from generation to generation,” he said.

Today, tributes were also paid in Prekaz by the acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti, together with the acting Minister of Internal Affairs Xhelal Sveçla, and the acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Donika Gërvalla.
