Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, during the inauguration of the Kosovo Tax Administration building in North Mitrovica, stated that the country’s institutions function in service of all citizens without distinction.

When asked by Serbian journalists whether there is democracy in Kosovo, Kurti emphasized that his government is working for equality and the rule of law.

“We work for all citizens. I am not above the law. The time before our government was not normal. I do not say everything is normal now, but I do say that everything is becoming more normal. This is because the law is not what divides society into those who are unprotected and those whom no one dares to touch. Instead, it unites society through cohesion and equality. You cannot give any example where state institutions—the Kosovo Police, and now also the Tax Administration—do not serve everyone equally and professionally,” he said.

He was also asked whether he visited the mayor of North Mitrovica.

“This time I did not meet him, but of course in other cases we will have the opportunity to meet. There has been a peaceful transfer of power, which means that in the municipalities north of the Iber River, you can become mayor, municipal assembly member, or director, but only through elections in the Republic of Kosovo,” he said.
