Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade Mimoza Kusari-Lila said that the request for an extraordinary session came after the failure of discussions on the election of the president, KosovaPress reports.

She also spoke about the privatization of Distribution and Supply, to which PDK MP Arian Tahiri reacted, saying that she was proudly promoting the privatization process.

At the extraordinary session where electricity prices are being discussed, Minister Kusari-Lila said that the opposition is attacking her while absolving itself of all responsibility.

“It is interesting that the request for this extraordinary session came only after the announcement that they had in a way failed in the discussions on the election of the president. Somehow, even the protection of citizens’ interests was placed after the interest of whether we might reach some agreement, and then leave it aside. This essentially shows a certain lack of sincerity regarding the topics you want to discuss. And the way you are speaking and the facts you are continuously distorting, especially from what I heard when I came here, with my name being mentioned repeatedly, I hope it makes you feel better that you absolve yourselves of all your responsibilities so far, while I carry the cross of blame on my back and I am blamed for privatization, I am blamed for coordination with the Serbian List, I am blamed for meters, I am blamed for whatever comes to your mind, mention my name. It is no problem at all if it makes you feel better,” she said.

She also spoke about the privatization of KEDS, saying that there is documentation for every meeting of the government group.

“Regarding this decision on privatization, it started in the Thaci 1 government and continued in the Thaci 2 government. The privatization process was accompanied by an agreement with the World Bank, more specifically the International Finance Corporation, which acted as transaction advisor. If you are interested in what happened in privatization, all documentation of every meeting of the government group is an archive that is easily accessible. Not a single meeting, even in the indictment later filed by the Special Prosecution—which is a shame—refers to any secret meeting, material benefit or individual gain mentioned in the indictment. And the indictment does not relate to the distribution process, and you know that very well, but you choose to be half negligent and half manipulative toward the public. The indictment was about four small hydropower plants that remained with the distribution system, and in the end it was confirmed in two instances that there was no basis,” she said.

On the issue of KEDS privatization, PDK parliamentary group leader Arian Tahiri reacted, telling Kusari-Lila that she was proudly promoting this process.

Minister Kusari-Lila later replied, denying that she was presenting it as a success.

"Mr. Tahiri, I did not say proudly, I said that at that time it was promoted as a success of the Thaci government, of which LDK was part, and I referred to that and told you that you still have privatization in your program,” she said.
