The change of approach of the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, regarding the Washington Agreement is being considered an adaptation to the new American President, Donald Trump. Despite the fact that this agreement - when it was reached in 2020, Kurti had called it harmful, he recently said that it promotes stability. Kurti's change of position is assessed to be made with the aim of aligning with the new American administration and overcoming past positions.

The agreement to normalize economic relations between Kosovo and Serbia was signed on September 4, 2020 at the White House, between former Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, in the presence of then-US President Donald Trump, who has now been elected for another term as US President.

Kurti spoke for the Spanish newspaper "El Mundo" - published on Monday - about relations with the Trump administration. He said that the Washington Agreement reached in 2020 has promoted stability.
Political analyst Seb Bytyqi tells KosovaPress that under the current Trump administration, there may be renewed efforts for an agreement between Kosovo and Serbia that focuses on economic cooperation.
According to him, each country is now adapting to the new Trump presidency and that Prime Minister Albin Kurti is now acting in the same way.
