Kurti: Our policemen have proven that they do not even spare their lives for the protection of legality

On the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Kosova Police (KP), the heads of state honored the policemen who fell in the line of duty and highly appreciated the dedication and commitment of the members of this institution in protecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Kosovo.

The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani said that the Kosova Police during this quarter of a century continues to be one of the most trusted and respected institutions of our country, influencing the construction of a society where law and order prevail.

Osmani emphasized that the contribution of the members of the Kosova Police is key for the protection of the integrity and sovereignty of our country.

While appreciating the sacrifice of policemen who fell in the line of duty, the head of the country emphasized that the KP must continue to develop its capacities and capabilities in safe steps, in order to be ready to respond to new threats.

Meanwhile, the prime minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, said that reflecting on the oath given, our policemen have proven that they do not even spare their lives for the protection of the legality and constitutionality of our country.

Kurti emphasized that the actions of our police in the attacks one after another in the last three years by criminal groups led by Serbia, have proven that results are achieved with professionalism and courage in the mission of rule of law, protection of citizens' lives and state sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The Minister of Internal Affairs, Xhelal Sveçla, said that the establishment of the Kosovo Police Service was a necessity of the time and country.

Sveçla emphasized that the close cooperation and the exchange of experiences with the members of international missions as well as the continuous dedication of the policemen have made the Kosova Police today the most reliable institution for our citizens.

The General Director of the Kosova Police, Gazmend Hoxha, said that throughout these 25 years, it has been proven that this institution was built on strong foundations to protect the state of Kosovo and its citizens.

He said that the Kosova Police continues to be the guardian of law and order, and the rights of citizens, contributing to the stability and security of our country.

Hoxha emphasized that KP has achieved a high level of professionalism and cooperation with local and international institutions.

In this central ceremony, the anthem of the Kosova Police was sung for the first time on the 25th anniversary of its establishment.

On September 6, 1999, the OSCE mission in Kosovo, in accordance with United Nations Resolution 1244, opened the police school and began training candidates for members of the Kosova Police. /Z. Zeneli/
