The President of the Kosovo Olympic Committee, Ismet Krasniqi, has called for the swift formation of new state institutions, stressing that political delays could negatively affect preparations for hosting the Mediterranean Games “Prishtina 2030.”

Following the parliamentary elections, Krasniqi said that Kosovo is facing a historic moment, while the implementation of sports infrastructure projects requires full institutional support and fast decision-making. He emphasized that the Kosovo Olympic Committee has taken on major responsibilities in organizing the Mediterranean Games and that there are already delays in the implementation of several important projects.

“Once again, I call for the Government of Kosovo to be formed as soon as possible, because it is in the interest of the Kosovo Olympic Committee. We know that the Kosovo Olympic Committee has been awarded the Mediterranean Games Prishtina 2030, and we must soon begin work on sports infrastructure, where we are already behind schedule. Without a stable government, it is not possible to work. Therefore, I believe that the government, the president, should be formed as soon as possible so we can start our work. This is a historic opportunity for Kosovo with the Mediterranean Games and we must not lose it under any circumstances. Elections are very important for us, and I believe the government will be formed soon so we can continue our work,” Krasniqi said.

He also raised concerns about delays in improving sports infrastructure and the national stadium project, underlining that state guarantees given for the Mediterranean Games must be fulfilled without compromise.

According to Krasniqi, the construction of the planned sports facilities is a key condition for Kosovo to host the Games. He warned that any failure to complete these projects could seriously jeopardize the country’s right to organize this major sporting event.

To avoid such a critical scenario, he said, immediate unity is required beyond party or individual interests, with the sole aim of fulfilling this national mission.
