The Energy Regulatory Office decided not to attend the meeting of the Committee for Economy, Industry, Entrepreneurship, Trade and Innovation, where its board was expected to report on the decision regarding electricity tariffs, the 2026 balance, electricity trading, and other issues.
In addition to the absence of the Energy Regulatory Office, the meeting also failed due to a lack of quorum, as the Vetëvendosje Movement did not participate.
The First Deputy Chair from the LDK, Jamina Ymeri, said that the Energy Regulatory Office must respond and explain how it operates.
“This sector is facing extremely difficult pressure, also not without its own fault. Today we have a series of questions that institutions, parliament, and citizens must have answers to: what is happening with the legal deadlines of April 1, when tariff review was supposed to begin? We still have no answers regarding the postponement of the liberalization process for part of consumers entering the free market, and we have questions about how this is possible,” Shala said.Tahiri said the Energy Regulatory Office’s absence from the committee confirms full political influence from the government.
“This may even be the end of Vetëvendosje’s rule, but that does not stop the work with transparency. I have sufficient evidence that this is the biggest scandal, theft in the energy sector, and it has reached the ministry as well. No matter how much they try to hide the information, it will eventually come out. Even though I have submitted requests to the Information and Privacy Agency, I will go all the way to bring the information out. It will be revealed how the electricity sector has been sabotaged by Vetëvendosje,” she added.
In this committee, the Energy Regulatory Office board was expected to report on the allegations against it and on members’ questions regarding electricity tariff increases.
