Kosovo has secured a €60 million loan for Mediterranean Games 2030 Olympic Village.

This was announced by France’s Minister Delegate for Europe, Benjamin Haddad, following a meeting with Kosovo’s Acting Foreign Minister, Glauk Konjufca, where they discussed cooperation between the two countries, developments in the region, and French support for hosting the Mediterranean Games.

Haddad announced that a €60 million loan has been signed to renovate the student housing complex, a project that will be one of the key investments in Kosovo’s preparations for the major sporting event in 2030.

“We have just signed a €60 million loan to renovate the student housing complex, which will serve as the Olympic Village for the Mediterranean Games. The project will also include investments in sports facilities and schools around the Student Center. This is an investment that will bring benefits far beyond the 2030 Mediterranean Games,” Haddad said.

Meanwhile, Kosovo’s Acting Foreign Minister, Glauk Konjufca, praised France’s support for Kosovo, stressing that the French contribution to the Mediterranean Games goes beyond practical assistance.

“Today, we held a productive meeting where we discussed strengthening our bilateral relations, economic cooperation, security issues and other developments in our region. I expressed our gratitude for France’s continued support for Kosovo, including France’s willingness to assist in organizing the 2030 Mediterranean Games. This contribution goes beyond practical support. It is an expression of the commitment of our two countries and of France’s confidence, as a central power in the European Union and a Mediterranean country, in Kosovo’s potential and future. This gives the 2030 Mediterranean Games a new dimension,” Konjufca said.

The Pristina 2030 Mediterranean Games are expected to be the largest international sporting event ever organized in Kosovo, with thousands of athletes from Mediterranean countries taking part. Preparations for the event include the construction and renovation of sports infrastructure, as well as projects designed to remain functional after the competitions end.
