Kosovo Judicial Council elects two new members

With 10 votes in favour, two new members of the Kosovo Judicial Council have been elected.

The seats previously held by deputy chair Arjeta Sadiku and judge Fidan Hoxha will now be filled by Alban Maxhuni, supervising judge at the Basic Court in Mitrovica – Vushtrri branch, and Valentina Sopjani, judge at the Basic Court in Pristina.

In the Council meeting, chair Rrustem Thaci said that the mandate of the new members will begin on 8 July and will end on 7 July 2031.

“By unanimous vote, the electoral result for the selection of members of the Judicial Council from the ranks of judges of the Basic Courts, Commercial Court First Instance Chambers and Administrative Courts is certified. Alban Maxhuni, supervising judge at the Basic Court in Mitrovica – Vushtrri branch, and Valentina Sopjani, judge at the Basic Court in Pristina. The mandate of the members begins on 8 July 2026 and ends on 7 July 2031. The decision enters into force on 6 July,” Thaci said.
