The high representative for foreign policy of the European Union, Josep Borrell, is still finalizing the report on the removal of punitive measures against Kosovo. In the EU they say that soon the report will be submitted to the member countries, but they add that there is no date when exactly this will be done. Despite this, the Government of Kosovo declares that the report will be submitted to the Council of Ministers next week and that the recommendation is expected to be positive. Political analysts are also waiting for the removal of punitive measures.

The spokesperson of the European Union, Peter Stano, in a response to KosovaPress, says that the report on the measures against Kosovo has not yet been submitted and there is no date when this will happen. However, he says that the report will be submitted to member countries soon.

"The report has not been submitted yet and we never announced a date when exactly this would be done. In its Conclusions of 12 December 2023, the General Affairs Council recalled that the EU stands ready to lift the measures vis-à-vis Kosovo in case of further progress in fulfilling the EU’s requests expressed in the 3 June 2023 statement. The Council ? EU Member States) invited the High Representative Borrell to present a report on the fulfilment by Kosovo of the EU requests. The report is still being finalised and will be presented to the Member States in the Council soon", reads their response to KosovaPress.

Political analyst, Dorajet Imeri, expects positive evaluations for the removal of punitive measures.

He told KosovaPress, that the European Union should remove the punitive measures against Kosovo as soon as possible.

On the other hand, the executive is optimistic that Borrell's report recommends the removal of punitive measures against Kosovo.

Days ago, the deputy prime minister for European integration and dialogue, Besnik Bislimi, said that there is information that the content of Borrell's report will be positive.

The damages caused to Kosovo by the punitive measures, according to reports, are considered to be around 300 million euros.
