The Kosovo Customs has announced that it has seized 250 kilograms of cannabis on the “Ibrahim Rugova” highway, in an operation supported by the Kosovo Intelligence Agency (AKI).

“An operation based on intelligence provided by the Kosovo Intelligence Agency, carried out by the Kosovo Customs and the Kosovo Police, has resulted in the discovery and confiscation of around 250 kilograms of a narcotic substance of the cannabis type, carefully hidden in a transport vehicle,” the statement reads.

The operation took place this afternoon (Wednesday), when the Anti-Smuggling Unit of the Customs stopped a truck traveling toward Prishtina on the “Ibrahim Rugova” highway.

After a detailed inspection and using professional equipment donated by the Embassy of the United States of America, customs officers managed to dismantle the hidden panels of the vehicle, where the narcotic substances were placed, the statement further notes.

“At the scene were also present the anti-drug unit of the Kosovo Police and the competent Prosecutor.

Regarding this case, a person with the initials S.J. has been arrested by order of the Special Prosecutor’s Office of Kosovo.
