The Assembly of Kosovo has approved the agreement on Kosovo’s membership in the Peace Board. Membership in this international mechanism was said to strengthen Kosovo’s position and open opportunities for securing new recognitions. However, opposition parties accused the ruling majority of delaying the procedures to give the green light to the agreement.
The Peace Board is an international mechanism envisaged in a United Nations Security Council resolution adopted in November 2025, aimed at overseeing the temporary administration of Gaza and rebuilding civilian institutions.
Arbëreshë Kryeziu-Hyseni, an MP from the Vetëvendosje Movement, welcomed the agreement and stressed the need for its approval.
The importance of approving the agreement on Kosovo’s membership in the Peace Board was also highlighted by Ilmi Recica, an MP from the Democratic Party of Kosovo, who criticized the government for delaying the procedures.Time Kadrijaj, an MP from the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, also stressed the need to approve the agreement, calling it an act of special importance.
Meanwhile, Haxhi Avdyli, an MP from Vetëvendosje, credited former President Vjosa Osmani for Kosovo’s membership in the Peace Board.
