Kosovo Agency for Prevention of Corruption marks 20th anniversary by launching Open Data platform to boost transparency
The Kosovo Agency for Prevention of Corruption (KAPK) marked its 20th anniversary by launching the Open Data platform, which aims to increase institutional transparency and facilitate access for citizens, media, and civil society to the data held by the agency.
The agency’s director, Yll Buleshkaj, said the launch of the platform represents a new standard of transparency for the institution, emphasizing that this had long been a demand from civil society and the media.
“As an institution, for the first time we are launching the Open Data platform. It has been a long-standing request from civil society and the media to have easier access to the information held by the agency. Today, we are marking the achievement of a new standard that the agency has committed to. In addition to open data, certain NGOs and media outlets can request access. Upon request submitted to the agency, access is provided within a specific timeframe. It is a standard of transparency and a tool that significantly facilitates access for all interested parties to receive data. This will also help the agency, as it will reduce the need for communication. The data will now be easily accessible and processable,” Buleshkaj said.
The head of the Information Services Division at KAPK, Besnik Dragusha, said that the platform was built using Microsoft’s latest technology and allows the downloading of asset declarations in several formats.
He announced that, so far, the platform contains 12,700 declarations for 2026, while a total of 44,600 declarations have been recorded since 2023.
Meanwhile, more than 10,700 public officials in Kosovo are subject to asset declaration requirements.
