Konjufca: The dinar should have been banned in 1999, when Serbia left Kosovo
The Speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo, Glauk Konjufca, has said that the dinar and its use should have been banned since Serbia left Kosovo in 1999.
In a press conference after the meeting of the Presidency of the Assembly, Konjufca said that the dinar has always been illegal, but that it has been used in different forms by parallel institutions.
He also said that the decision to ban the dinar was made by the CBK and that interfering with the decisions of independent institutions would be harmful to the constitutional order of Kosovo.
Meanwhile, when asked about the concerns of the USA about the decision, Konjufca said that the US ambassador, Jeff Hovenier, expressed his concerns that there could be riots in the north of the country, but that according to the Speaker, all those who try to misuse legal decisions, they will face the rule of law.
