Konica, a fine master of the Albanian language
Faik Konica was born on March 15, 1876 in Konica and died on December 15, 1942 in Washington. He was a master of art and literature, a national activist and Albanian writer. He comes from an old feudal family. He received his first lessons in his hometown, in Turkish, Arabic and Greek. He studied in Shkodra, Constantinople, France and the USA. He was the son of the famous and wealthy family of Konica. His mother was a relative of Ali Pasha Tepelena, although he never mentioned it. He spoke fluent French.
He later entered the French Imperial High School in Istanbul and later graduated from high school in France. He studied philosophy in Dijon and Paris. In 1912 he graduated in literature from Harvard University in the USA with a gold medal, while it has been described by his friends as a "moving library".
