The Kosovo Energy Corporation (KEK) is on track to continue its positive production growth in February, following strong performance in December and January.

According to a February 8 announcement, KEK increased its production by over 110,000 MWh during these two months. In December 2025, electricity production rose by 27% (an increase of 46,539 MWh), and in January 2026, it increased by 32.9% (63,003 MWh) compared to the same periods in the previous year.

KEK stated that this growth directly contributed to meeting the country’s rising energy demand. The record production was further supported by operating in an extraordinary regime since December 19, running three units of the “Kosova A” Thermal Power Plant simultaneously for 31 days—a high operational load demonstrating technical mobilization.

Confidence in continued strong performance in February is supported by the recent return to operation of the A5 unit at TC “Kosova,” following the successful repair of recent leaks, meeting all technical and safety conditions for regular operation.

This continues the successful trend from 2025, when, according to the Annual Energy Balance approved by the Energy Regulatory Office, KEK achieved 97% of its annual production target.

In addition to coal-based electricity, KEK is diversifying energy sources. The strategic “Solar4Kosovo I Photovoltaics” project—a solar park with a minimum capacity of 100 MW—has entered the tender phase for design, supply, and installation.

KEK also presented the rehabilitation and modernization of unit A3 as a major capital investment worth €137 million, aimed at improving performance and extending the lifespan of its generation capacity.
