Kadri Veseli and Hashim Thaçi were involved in the appointment of KLA commanders
In the closing statement of the Prosecution in The Hague, it was claimed that Kadri Veseli’s involvement in the crimes outlined in the indictment is evident.
According to Prosecutor Matt Halling, Thaçi and Veseli, before removing someone from the scene, would accuse them of being collaborators with Serbia, and those who did not respect the Kosovo People’s Movement would face consequences.
He asserted that Hashim Thaçi and Kadri Veseli were personally involved in the appointment of KLA commanders.
Moreover, he claimed that Veseli was part of the decision to assign certain individuals to oversee operations, including torture.
“Their method was that before removing someone from the scene, they accused them of being collaborators, and so on. The witness added that those who did not respect the Kosovo People’s Movement would face the corresponding consequences. This was the situation, and this is how it happened… Kadri Veseli and Hashim Thaçi were personally involved in appointing commanders… Veseli is not outside the country and is not detached from these events. He is part of the decision that assigned these individuals to oversee the torture operation,” he said.
In the closing part on Monday, statements were also given regarding the functioning and structure of the General Staff. The Prosecution requested that Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi, and Rexhep Selimi each be sentenced to 45 years in prison, totaling 180 years.
