Investigations into the elections: Commission chairperson in Malishevë detained for 48 hours

The Basic Prosecutor’s Office in Gjakovë has announced that on January 28, 2026, it initiated investigative actions regarding suspicions of falsification of voting results during the vote-counting process within political parties for the elections of deputies to the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo, in the Municipality of Malishevë.

According to the announcement, on the aforementioned date, the presence of a commission chairperson for the interview was not secured. However, today, February 2, 2026, his presence was ensured, and the interview was conducted.

After the completion of procedural actions, the State Prosecutor decided to detain the suspect for a period of 48 hours.

The Basic Prosecutor’s Office in Gjakovë has submitted a request to the competent court for the imposition of pre-trial detention against him, due to the founded suspicion that he committed the criminal offense of “Falsification of voting results,” under Article 216, paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo (CCRK).
