The acting Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, said that during this campaign he has worked in three shifts. He made this statement when asked whether he had stayed in Mitrovica last night, adding that he had tried to observe the election preparations.

He made these remarks after casting his vote, where he also called on citizens to go out and vote, KosovaPress reports.

“During this campaign, I have worked in three shifts, all across the municipalities of Kosovo, and I have tried to monitor the election preparations because municipal, local elections are no less important than parliamentary, central ones. Citizens of the Republic are also residents of municipalities, and it is extremely important — for their well-being, dignity, and quality of life in general — what kind of mayors the municipalities will have. The ballot was simple; it had only two names, and one of them will certainly become mayor by this evening. Therefore, once again, I call on citizens to exercise their democratic right to elect the mayor of their municipality. The 18 municipalities where the runoff elections are being held today make up less than half of Kosovo, but if you look at which municipalities they are, it’s clear that they represent perhaps more than 80 percent of the Republic’s population,” Kurti stated.
