Hovenier says it clearly: We are concerned, the decision on the dinar has affected the US-Kosovo partnership
The American ambassador in Prishtina, Jeffrey Hovenier, today repeated the call for Kosovo to postpone the decision on the dinar, a regulation received from the Central Bank of Kosovo.
In a press conference, Hovenier said that the US has significant concerns about the Regulation of the Central Bank of Kosovo (CBK).
Hovenier also made it clear that the issue with the dinar "has affected the partnership of the USA with Kosovo", denying representatives of the Government who have said the opposite.
"I'm concerned that there are public statements now following his interview that suggests that the US-Kosovo partnership has not been affected and may not be affected by this situation. I have to be clear that is simply not true. That is simply not the case." he said.
The American ambassador said that they do not challenge the institutions of Kosovo to regulate the financial sector, but requested that the new CBK Regulation be postponed.
