The Ambassador of the United States of America to Kosovo, Jeffrey Hovenier, has requested a change in the way of implementation of the CBK Regulation, which prohibits the use of the Serbian dinar. After the meeting with the deputy prime minister, Besnik Bislimi, he said that he saw positive signs from the meeting that the chief negotiators of Kosovo and Serbia had on Tuesday in Brussels.

In front of the media, Hovenier also responded to the threats of the Serbian president, Aleksandar Vucic towards Kosovo, where he underlined that Kosovo has great security guarantees, since the most powerful and successful military alliance (NATO) is in Kosovo and that it is ready to respond if it is needed.

He added that Bislimi did not show Kosovo's proposals on the issue of the dinar, as he said that the Government is working on them, while he also expressed optimism about the meeting announced for next week.

According to him, the people of Kosovo should not worry about the various threats to territorial integrity or security, as NATO with its military presence in Kosovo is prepared and ready for any situation.

Regarding the statements of the US ambassador to Serbia, Christopher Hill, who said that "Serbia is closer to NATO than Kosovo", the American ambassador Hovenier said that he wants to oppose all those who make comparisons.

He said that every country should be free to choose its own alliances and organizations, while reiterating that they want to see the future of Kosovo in NATO.

Asked about the statements of the American emissary for the Western Balkans, Gabriel Escobar, who last week said that Kosovo has two more conditions (Association and stopping expropriations in the north) for membership in the Council of Europe, he said that they are not the same position of the USA, as Escobar was talking about the positions of some European countries.
