The hearing session has concluded for the five suspects, officials who were arrested two days ago for the criminal offense of “abuse of official position or authority.”

Alban Arifi, the lawyer representing Veton Bytyqi, an official from the archives institution, said they will file an appeal if a 30-day detention measure is imposed.

“Today, the hearing was held regarding the request for detention in the case of the officials arrested two days ago, officials from the cadastre and archives institutions. We presented our objections regarding the request for detention and we expect the court to reject this request and release them through regular procedure... Of course, we will file an appeal because we believe there is not enough basis for ordering detention. This is a case that has been under investigation for two years, and the conditions required for detention do not exist,” he said.

The decision on the detention measure is expected within two hours.

Two days ago, a search and seizure operation was carried out in Prishtina, Ferizaj, and Shtime, under a court order. The operation was conducted in cooperation with the Kosovo Police, during which five individuals were arrested.
