Haxhiu sets August 6 as date for Kosovo Assembly constitutive session
The constitutive session of the Kosovo Assembly will be held on August 6. Acting President Albulena Haxhiu announced this at a press conference today.
She said she was not rushing to convene the constitutive session because there is still no agreement on the issue of the president.
“Due to this constitutional link between the constitution of the Assembly and the procedure for electing the president, I have carefully considered every step taken over the past few weeks. I welcomed the invitations for meetings from Prime Minister and LVV leader Albin Kurti and closely followed the efforts to reach an agreement. As you know, two meetings have been held so far, one with the PDK and one with the LDK, while the Alliance has not responded to the invitation for a meeting,” she said.
“Since there is still no political agreement on the issue of the president, I decided not to rush to convene the constitutive session immediately after the certification, but to use the timeframe allowed by the Constitution to give political parties the necessary space for dialogue and to build consensus. Therefore, today I decided that the constitutive session of the Kosovo Assembly will be held on August 6,” she said.
