The MP and chairman of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Bedri Hamza, said at the solemn session of the Kosovo Assembly on February 17 that they do not accept artificial equality between the Serbian state aggressor and Kosovo’s struggle for freedom, referring to the proceedings at The Hague.

Hamza stated that the people will not allow history to be rewritten on the back of their sacrifices.

“Today we celebrate, but at the same time we reflect, because while we build the future, the most glorious part of our history—the liberation war—is on the defendants’ bench in The Hague. Our liberation war is being judged. Those who contributed to the state—Hashim Thaci, Jakup Krasniqi, Kadri Veseli, and Rexhep Selimi—are on trial, and today we must state clearly: Kosovo’s trust in international justice must not be betrayed. We will not allow history to be rewritten on the back of our sacrifices. We do not accept artificial equality between the Serbian state aggressor and our resistance for freedom. The KLA was not a criminal enterprise; it was a liberation army, a response to oppression, the voice of a people with no other path. Kosovo seeks justice, but truth—justice that is not subject to politics—because our freedom is not a crime, our independence is not a historical mistake; it is rightly earned,” said Hamza.
