Vetëvendosje Movement MP Rozeta Hajdari has opposed the PDK’s request for an extraordinary session on electricity prices, describing it as based on a simplified interpretation of the situation.
During the session called by the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), Hajdari said that claims of billing manipulation and inaccurate metering are being used as the basis for the request, but according to her, the reality is more complex.
“Electricity prices are not the result of a single element; they are a combination of factors that include imports, network losses and tariff balancing mechanisms. Therefore, the increase in bills cannot be reduced to a single claim of technical manipulation,” she said.
According to her, the issue should be addressed by the relevant institutions. She added that the PDK’s request simplifies a complex system into a narrative focused on meter manipulation, while in reality billing depends on multiple structural factors and every issue should be addressed with evidence rather than general political statements.
She called on the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo to adopt the draft law on energy and electricity as soon as possible, in line with EU directives.
