Closing statements have begun in The Hague in the largest trial taking place at the Kosovo Specialist Chambers, with family members and former KLA fighters present to follow the hearings closely. From Skenderaj and Germany, they express hope for the acquittal of the former KLA leaders, emphasizing their belief in the innocence of the four.

Xhevat Dervishi, the nephew of the Prekazi heroine Salë Jashari, came from Skenderaj to follow the closing statements of the defense lawyers in The Hague.

He told KosovaPress that this is his first time here in five years, but he expects the former KLA leaders to be acquitted.

The nephew of heroine Salë Jashari said: “If there is justice, they will be declared innocent.”

He expects the four KLA leaders to be released and returned home.

“It is a trial taking place far from Kosovo, which prevents many citizens from participating… We could not stay there {in Kosovo}, and we came here to see these people who fought for their country and brought freedom to it,” he added.

Fitim Gjoshi, who came from Germany, said he has followed over 70 percent of the hearings over these five years.

He was a KLA member, part of the 113th “Mujë Krasniqi” Brigade in Negrovc, Drenas.

“I have followed over 70 percent of the hearings, and I believe I will continue until the end to follow them out of respect and honor for our liberators who are sacrificing for our country, for this state they founded and achieved the goal of freedom,” he said.

He also expects the release of Thaçi, Veseli, Selimi, and Krasniqi.

“Until they come out from here, it is hard to believe because there is no justice here. This is a political court and there is no justice at all. But based on the statements of the lawyers, we hope that justice will prevail. They are innocent,” he added.
