FIFA punishes Serbia for unsportsmanlike behavior in the match against Albania
The inappropriate behavior of Serbian fans in the stands has brought serious consequences for the Serbian Football Federation. Due to offensive chants and unsportsmanlike conduct during the match against Albania—where the red and blacks won thanks to Manaj’s goal—FIFA has decided to impose strict disciplinary measures on Serbia.
In the next match of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers against Latvia, which will take place in Leskovac, Serbia will be forced to play in front of a limited number of fans, as 25% of the stadium seats will remain closed by FIFA’s order.
In addition, the Serbian Football Federation has been fined 87,500 Swiss francs, with FIFA citing that such incidents have become a recurring issue in recent matches involving the Serbian national team.
