Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) leader Ramush Haradinaj has accused Prime Minister Albin Kurti of pushing the country toward new elections.

Before the start of the extraordinary parliamentary session on electricity, Haradinaj said that Kurti does not want to elect the president, adding that he is misleading with offers toward LDK and PDK.

He said that yesterday’s attempt to find a solution for the presidency also failed, following the meeting between Kurti and LDK leader Lumir Abdixhiku.

“AAK does not consider it closed; for us it is open because it is our duty to elect the president. Kurti considers this matter closed. How does a presidential agreement happen? When he formed the government, he had the option to make a coalition not only for the government but also for the presidency. These are situations where you can make political agreements for certain responsibilities, but he did not do it. These are calculations and pure deception. There is no offer for any opposition party, believe me, neither for PDK nor for LDK. These are word games to waste time until the day elections are called,” he said.

He also mentioned, as he said, a new economic package being prepared by the head of government for the election campaign.

“Kurti has decided to go to elections at a time when he formed the government without making a coalition also for the presidency, or at a time when the budget was voted without an agreement with any opposition party on a specific project or topic. He has created a camouflage and unfortunately he is mocking all of us, Kosovo. He is going toward elections and has already prepared a financial package aiming to distribute money before elections, including an additional pension and half of the salary for employees in the private sector… When he needs votes, he distributes state budget money, and unfortunately part of the citizens do not understand this trick of his,” Haradinaj added.

He stressed that the next elections should be held no later than June 7, while adding that AAK’s candidate for prime minister will be Ardian Gjini, who is also a candidate for party leader.

On the other hand, he said AAK will pass the electoral threshold and achieve a surprising result.

The Assembly has until April 28 to elect the president, otherwise the country will go to new elections, KosovaPress reports.
