Kosovo continues to remain in a political deadlock as the ninth legislature of the Assembly of Kosovo has not yet managed to form a new government.

The first nominee from the Vetëvendosje Movement, during the last session of the Assembly, failed to secure the required 61 votes, receiving the confidence of only 56 deputies.

After a meeting between the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, and the leaders of the parties represented in the Assembly, it was announced that no agreement had been reached among the political entities. However, the head of state said she would do everything possible to avoid extraordinary elections.

The leading party emerging from the most recent parliamentary elections in Kosovo, the Vetëvendosje Movement, has requested a 10-day deadline from the president to nominate a new candidate for prime minister. This deadline expires tomorrow, Wednesday, November 5, when it will be known whether the country will head to new elections or succeed in forming a new government.

It should be recalled that the Assembly of Kosovo was constituted on October 10, eight months after the national elections held on February 9. /KosovaPress
