At the Dubrava Prison, excavations have begun today by teams from the Institute of Forensic Medicine, searching for the mortal remains of a person who went missing during the war in Kosovo. So far, the Institute of Forensic Medicine has informed ​KosovaPress that they have not encountered any mortal remains.

The Deputy Director of the Institute of Forensic Medicine, Ditor Haliti, in a statement to KosovaPress,, said that it is suspected that within the premises of Dubrava Prison there are bones of a person who went missing during the last war in Kosovo.

He emphasized that excavations are expected to continue during the next week as well.

“[The excavations] started today by order of the Basic Prosecutor’s Office in Prishtina. We are looking for an individual from the time of the war. According to information, he was buried here... The work is ongoing. I don’t know if it will be completed today, but in any case, until we finish this point, we are working. So far, there is nothing… Excavations might not take place tomorrow, but they may continue during the next week,” said Haliti.

At this stage, the teams are working on site and the investigations will continue to confirm whether the identified location contains remains belonging to the missing person.
