Dozens of unauthorized structures built near the prison area in northern Mitrovica were demolished on Wednesday as part of an operation to clear property belonging to the Trepca enterprise, reports KosovaPress.

KosovaPress also attempted to speak with the Mayor of North Mitrovica, Milan Radojevic, regarding the demolition of the structures near the pre-trial detention center in the north.

His advisor said that “if the mayor decides to speak on this issue, he will hold a press conference,” he stated.

Trepça J.S.C. said in an official statement that the action followed the expiration of a previously given deadline and non-compliance with the notice issued on 13 February 2026.

It is reported that more than 20 garages and structures located along the road in this area are owned by the enterprise and have been illegally occupied.

The company stated that a 48-hour deadline had previously been given for voluntary evacuation of the space, while parties were offered the opportunity to submit any potential agreements for review.

“This operation will continue until the full return of the property under the management of Trepça J.S.C.,” the statement reads.

The operation to clear Trepça J.S.C. properties is being carried out with institutional support.
