Bishop Dodë Gjergji of the Prizren–Prishtina Diocese conveyed a message of peace and harmony on the occasion of Christmas, one of the most important celebrations in the Christian calendar.
The solemn Christmas Mass at the Cathedral of Saint Mother Teresa was led by Bishop Dodë Gjergji, as reported by KosovaPress.
“Today the world is facing the fear of destruction, because it has been left without love; it speaks the language of hatred because it has lost the power of reason, and decisions are being made according to the interests of the powerful rather than justice. Unfortunately, this way of thinking, this form of action, and this approach toward one another is taking human lives across the world where there is war, injustice, and poverty. This has severely wounded the political conscience of the world. Above all, it is destroying the hopes of younger generations and making them incapable of living in peace and love. The situation among us is not good either, and for this we cannot blame anyone else, but should feel jointly responsible for every situation that is not at the proper level… I feel it necessary to invite you to be more responsible in restoring the condition in which we lived in the year we are leaving behind, by fulfilling our civic duty, as everyone will contribute to ensuring that the country has sustainable political stability, accelerates steps toward the European family, and succeeds in preserving the basic values of our society,” said Dodë Gjergji.
After Easter, Christmas is the most important feast for Christians. The importance of Christmas Day began to grow after the coronation of Charlemagne in the year 800, which took place on Christmas Day.In Christian history, the birth of Christ brings the miracle of the Incarnation—God makes Himself fully human by taking the form of a helpless child, yet something miraculous truly happens in every birth.
On Christmas Day, Thursday, Mass will be held at 11:00 AM at the Cathedral of Saint Mother Teresa, while at 6:00 PM Mass will be held at the Church of Saint Anthony (Shën Ndou) in Ulpiana, Prishtina.
