Debate in committee, publication of electricity sale and purchase contracts requested
The contracts for the sale and purchase of electricity over the past five years became a topic of discussion at today’s meeting of the Committee on Economy.
LDK MP Janina Ymeri requested that the committee’s work plan include a review of electricity sale and purchase contracts over the last five years.
“If the issue of electricity sale and purchase contracts, together with annexes, requires a longer discussion, more than just being placed on next week’s agenda, I don’t believe you need much more time to discuss it further. How much electricity has been purchased and how much has been sold? As for Mr. Ramadani’s proposal, I agree. For me, it would not be a problem to start from the year 2000. From 2000 to 2026 everything can be seen, regardless of the party. This is not a political issue, because we will see how much the citizens’ budget has been damaged, regardless of which party was in power.”
However, majority MPs requested that the issue be discussed at the next meeting and even expanded to cover the period from 2000 onwards.
The chairwoman of the committee, Rozeta Hajdari, said she does not discourage the LDK MP’s request, but that the requests of LVV MPs should also be taken into account.
“I do not discourage Ms. Janina’s request if she wants it addressed ad hoc. I know we may not all agree with this request, but for the sake of transparency and a constructive approach, as chair of the committee I do not discourage a proposal. The goal is to begin in the most constructive way possible, but if it becomes a frequent practice to put every proposal to a vote, it will make the committee’s work more difficult. Let’s discuss this at the next meeting, lay out all the necessary dates, including your requests and those of the other MPs, and have clarity regarding all periods related to the energy sector,” Hajdari emphasized.
In addition, the committee approved its scope of work for this mandate of the tenth legislature.
